A Bewitching Business Meeting

Unexpected surprises are indeed fun. Like the afternoon of mischief night my friend and business partner Lyn and I met up with a graphic designer friend, Mary Carol at Earl's in Peddler's Village to discuss ways to promote our webstore, http://www.trulygifted.us.com/ . It was mid day, the ideas were on the table and our laughter filled the air, such a fun break from the normal working afternoon. While brainstorming and enjoying ourselves we noticed a trail of witches entering the restaurant. Never had any of us seen so many elaborately costumed women, and all witches! So intrigued, we had to go say hello. Learned they were from the Red Hat Society out to celebrate Halloween! Such detailed costumes and adorned with spooky jewelry, they gathered to enjoy the afternoon in bewitching style! Their sense of fun inspired us so we took some photos and way caught the spirit of Halloween. When you are open to enjoying life, it surprises you with all kinds of funny things. For us an afternoon of collaboration offered up some bewitching fun!

In All My Glory!!!!
Some dreams are the dreams of many people. Who doesn't yearn to know what it's like to be a rock star . . . hollywood star . . . . or super model. I have to say that I definitely felt like a super model during my recent photo session for Truly Gifted's "In All Her Glory" the photo project and contest. At the ripe young age of fifty, I never thought I would appreciate images of myself. Like most people, the thought of having my image captured in film is intimidating. Although I have many friends and family tell me the clique' "you look good for your age" I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would like the pix as much as I do. I guess that's the difference a good photographer makes. Terree, owner of The Moment Photograpy, http://www.themomentphoto.com/, was phenomenol at making me feel comfortable. She talked me through each of the pictures and gave me techniques to use to help capture the true me. Outside of great pictures the shoot was a blast!!! What I conceived as intimidating turned out to be great fun - I think I could get used to being a supermodel LOL!! The goal of the project is to show the amazing qualities of real women. If you think you'd like the chance to feel like a super model for a day, check out the contest requirements at http://www.trulygifted.us.com/mp_includes/pages.asp?id=2082

Symbols of Transformation
We all have symbols about us, art, sayings, objects that remind us of our greatness. One such symbol that has build our whole collaborative effort is the beautiful Queen of Flowers, The White Lotus Flower. We offer this up as our symbol, the beginning of our line of Harvest Capture Designs, not just as a product to purchase, or something to wear, but as a sign of transformation of ourselves, our ideas, and our efforts with all. We invite to join in, having some sign of this becoming to ones own potential around you as a light post to joy on your journey. We started the Open Your Heart Campaign with this symbol of nature, about growth through rough conditions, and flowering to all the greatness you are. We consciously open our hearts as we venture through this collaboration when things get off balance or we step into unknown territory. It makes a difference and so we offer it to you.
Nature is on the rise these days with all the green movements and consciousness about the earth. It is about nature, the simplicity and complexity, and above all the beauty, the flowering that occurs. We are soothed by the great outdoors and inspired by it. The lotus has carried sacred meaning for all of humanity throughout countless times of strife and chaos. Invite her into your life as a symbol of transformation. An urge to open you heart to the situation and be prosperous, joyful and wise. We offer many products to chose from with inspiring words and images. And we will create more! As the butterflyl spreads its wings, open your heart to the light of the sun, no matter where your feet are planted.
The White Lotus represents
Knowledge, Wisdom, Purity, and Enlightenment, Health, Beauty, Generosity, Long Life, Luck, Honor, Fertility, Prosperity, Good Fortune, and Wealth.

Join Our Collaborative Experiment
" Every one of my writings has been furnished to me by a thousand different persons; a thousand things, wise and foolish, have brought me, without suspecting it, the offering of their thoughts, faculties, and experience. My work is the aggregation of beings taken from the whole of nature; it bears the name of Goethe."
Harvest Capture Designs was born as an experiment. We all wanted to work together, our individual business very different but all connected to beauty. We all celebrated many times in many beautiful areas of nature, skiing, surf fishing, cabins and beach houses. We successfully connected our love of nature into products that used all our talents individual and made them into a new product. Only with each part, person or talent could we have created these incredible products. It truly defines a collaborative, a design collaborative. The Lotus, inspired our first line and it represents coming into ones own grand potential. We all have different dreams, places we want to go, things we want to develope. We have products to share, a book of inspiring woman set in motion, a movement into the green market as individuals and the big plan of an event spot. The Lotus Project combines art, music, and horticulture in unison with a tract of land and harmoniously developing all these venues while using the earth to beautify, power, and sustain itself! Lots to do. Many are needed in their ideas, talents, offerings and skills!
We are inviting you all to be part of our Collaborative Experiment! How ever you can think of to be part of it all! Maybe you are inspired by nature as we are and create a cool product for us to share. Email us! Know some hidden artist? Tell us about it! Are you an inspiring woman for In All Her Glory? Transform Your Home with Lighting
The mission of Truly Gifted is to bring beauty to your home. To make it a place where you love to be and you love your friends and family to be. Picking the perfect wall and décor art that reflects your personal style is important; but how do you showcase the special and loved elements of your home beautifully? Well, it’s all in the lighting. One of my learned gifts is interior lighting design. I trained under an expert, Phil Blosser of Blosser Lighting Design. The way he is able to make a beautiful home even more beautiful with direct lighting techniques is amazing! The irony on expertly lighting a home is that it is not accomplished by purchasing lighting fixtures and making them the focal point. It is quite the opposite. The trick is to “hide” the light source and direct light on the beautiful elements in your home. A well-lit house is a combination of dark areas interrupted with bright vignettes showcasing those beautiful and sometimes very expensive elements that adorn your house. It is similar to sitting in a dark theater and viewing the spectacular way the spot light illuminates the main character in a play. Envision guests in your house being amazed by one incredible vignette after another at an evening cocktail party or holiday dinner. Another advantage to accent lighting is that, with proper placement of fixtures, better task lighting can also be achieved. Most people think in order to read or perform a task that "brighter" is better and that they need a glowing orb in the middle of each ceiling. In actuality, “brighter” produces glare which in turn leads to poor visibility. An equally bright room also leads to a flat, uninteresting, one dimensional look. Directed light is both beneficial to the look of your home as well as functioning tasks in your home. It is biologically a fact that the eye is driven to light. Do you want to drive people to the light of a 75 cent light bulb, or the light illuminating your prized possessions? The same philosphy holds true with exterior landscape lighting.
Harvest Capture Designs are unique in that the photographer, Terree Yeagle, expertly manipulates light in capturing the image with her end goal being to create a print that is commanding in color and composition. The bold white Lotus contrasted on a dark background utilizes the same concept of lighting that I mentioned above. This is just one of the elements that make these prints so compelling. With the addition of small, hidden, directed low volt lighting these prints literally jump off the wall. Know that if you are handy and you have the ability to weave wires behind the walls of your house that, quite inexpensively, you can transform the home you currently have with better lighting. But, if electricity is not one of your gifts you’ll need to consult with a contractor or electrician who has the expertise to install the lights and get wires into sealed walls. Not many contractors nor electricians install lights in the manner I have described, as they still install lights today the same way they did 50 years ago - that's where a lighter designer or a contractor who works with a lightening designer is important. I can suggest some contractors/electricians via email.
The next time I write I’ll discuss the “color temperature” of light - as not all light is created equal. Feel free to ask me about your home lighting dilemmas!!! Email your lighting questions to sandy@trulygifted.us.com

Beautifying Bucks County
Photograph by Terree Yeagle themomentphoto.comWritten by Lyn Hicks harmonyhillgardens.com
A wonderful show at Bucks Beautiful! Look at this fabulous set that included all http://www.trulygifted.us.com/ products!! We were the most vibrant welcome with bright spring green and rich reds and oranges. Perfect festive accessories to awaken the spring gatherings of friends and family. We were so well received, running out of business cards! Hundreds of them! Imagine that? Very exhilarating!! Made so many connections of other artisans, interested customers, wowed ladies looking for that brilliant accent to add to their collection. The word has been spread about in a big way locally, delighting the eyes and senses of all the passers by, we optimistically offered our new products with great response.
The horticulture garden lovers were so charmed and intrigued by the Lotus Wall Canvasses! They couldn't believe it was a photo! Of course, with Terree on our team how wouldn't we even impress the botanists!! Very wide open market to investigate, right up there with the other to do items. Our new venture has quite the list.
The college kids loved the hipster handbags! Two bright designs in fabulous spring colors with Awaken Your Passion! Perfect for springs emergence. Modulari Decorative Screens truly excited them for dorm decor! Every one loved the Modulari! They are one the cleverest ways to sparkle up a area with a new look. Easy, convenient, light weight. These are selling. No ones seen them before! They also loved the pillows and lanterns to cozy their dorm rooms! The lanterns are truly festive! People love them and we hope to keep them in stock!
The candles delighted everyone! Yes, we knew that! We hadn't seen them either before and knew we had to carry them!! They are slow burning and just in beautiful colors and shapes!! We could of sold sets right out of our room! Some one suggested we do just that at the Business Expo in May.
The ottomans got lots of lookers! The infamous sock ottoman to be unveiled soon enough!! The cozy pillows made of silk linen were perfect for the sushi table. Truly a sophisticated way to bring nature in on your couch or cozy chair! The table runner had many interested takers! The silk repeat ribbon has a soft reflective nature for even a traditional room! Truly Gifted Goes Public!

Wow! Word of the day as Truly Gifted stepped out into the Doylestown limelight at the Bucks Beautiful Garden & Home Show yesterday. A whirlwind of excitement surrounded us as friends and family came by to show support. They were really taken by the beauty of the set Team Truly Gifted designed. And many visitors came by and expressed how impressed they were with the design and all the fresh fecorative accent merchandise. For us this event brought to fruition the vision we've been driven by for the last 4 months. It really felt so fabulous to see the Harvest Capture Designs wall art canvases, cushions, and ottomans fit together in the colorful mod sushi set scene! We are off and running! Inventory is Growing!

Oh my gosh! The products are really coming together. This is so crazy exciting. Today the frames from our signature style arrived and in person they are just so different and fun. That is the common thread in all our products, the unexpected! Our own designs are quite unique. I know this as I am such a shopper and I have not seen anything remotely like our big wall canvases in The Lotus Collection. I should mention for big walls yes, but we've made sized for smaller spaces as well. Take a look, surely there is a spot in your domain that would majorly benefit from the addition of one of The Lotus Collection Canvases. Those folks that are tired or bored with the same old standards.....check us out! Colors, textures, we are bringing to ya!
And The Glow.....soon we will have the most incredible candles I have ever seen. Hope to wow our followers and customers as well! Get ready to light your fire with gorgeous colors and wonderful shapes of decorative candles!
Adios for now! Peace and all good things.

Queen Lotus, our Inspiration
Photography by Terree Yeagle www.themomentphoto.comWritten by Lyn Hicks www.harmonyhillgardens.com

The Lotus collection was inspired by the incredible white blooms basking above the pond July 2008 at Harmony Hill Gardens. Grown on the farm, given in a vase at a celebration, captured in bloom, then designed into products. The Lotus Flower symbolizes beauty and creative potential admist the muck of the world. It is considered one of the oldest human symbols on the planet. As far back as Egypt, it represents the opening of the heart. The Lotus is considered the Queen of flowers and is the epitome of femine beauty, harmonizing all aspects of being and expresses coming into ones own potential. This incredible beauty inspired our Open Your Heart campaign and all the continually growing products in the line. We hope you join us in embracing the Queen Lotus as a symbol of transformation in your life and Open your heart!

The morning is here and it is a good calm morning. Had some wonderful responses to the first post. Great ideas and many well wishes and I appreciate so much every person taking the time to support us. I decided to post what my Dad's reply included. You all likely know it but maybe take a few minutes and read it again because it is just the best!!! Enjoy Oh the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss
Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Congratulations!Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoesYou can steer yourselfany direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the gal who'll decide where to go.
You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
And you may not find anyyou'll want to go down.In that case, of course, you'll head straight out of town.
It's opener therein the wide open air.
Out there things can happenand frequently doto people as brainyand footsy as you.
And when things start to happen, don't worry. Don't stew.Just go right along. You'll start happening too.
OH! THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!
You'll be on your way up!You'll be seeing great sights! You'll join the high flierswho soar to high heights.
You won't lag behind, because you'll have the speed. You'll pass the whole gang and you'll soon take the lead.Wherever you fly, you'll be the best of the best.Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
Except when you don' tBecause, sometimes, you won't.
I'm sorry to say sobut, sadly, it's trueand Hang-upscan happen to you.
You can get all hung upin a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on.You'll be left in a Lurch.
You'll come down from the Lurchwith an unpleasant bump. And the chances are, then, that you'll be in a Slump.
And when you're in a Slump, you're not in for much fun.Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.
You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. But mostly they're darked.A place you could sprain both you elbow and chin!Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?How much can you lose? How much can you win?
And IF you go in, should you turn left or right...or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite?Or go around back and sneak in from behind?Simple it's not, I'm afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.
You can get so confusedthat you'll start in to racedown long wiggled roads at a break-necking paceand grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place. The Waiting Place...
...for people just waiting.Waiting for a train to goor a bus to come, or a plane to goor the mail to come, or the rain to goor the phone to ring, or the snow to snowor waiting around for a Yes or a Noor waiting for their hair to grow.Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to biteor waiting for wind to fly a kiteor waiting around for Friday nightor waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jakeor a pot to boil, or a Better Breakor a sting of pearls, or a pair of pantsor a wig with curls, or Another Chance.Everyone is just waiting.
NO!That's not for you!
Somehow you'll escapeall that waiting and staying. You'll find the bright placeswhere Boom Bands are playing.
With banner flip-flapping,once more you'll ride high!Ready for anything under the sky.Ready because you're that kind of a guy!
Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. there are games to be won.And the magical things you can do with that ballwill make you the winning-est winner of all.Fame! You'll be famous as famous can be,with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.
Except when they don't.Because, sometimes, they won't.
I'm afraid that some timesyou'll play lonely games too.Games you can't win'cause you'll play against you.
All Alone!Whether you like it or not,Alone will be somethingyou'll be quite a lot.
And when you're alone, there's a very good chanceyou'll meet things that scare you right out of your pants. There are some, down the road between hither and yon, that can scare you so much you won't want to go on.
But on you will gothough the weather be foulOn you will gothough your enemies prowlOn you will gothough the Hakken-Kraks howlOnward up manya frightening creek, though your arms may get soreand your sneakers may leak.
On and on you will hikeand I know you'll hike farand face up to your problemswhatever they are.
You'll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You'll get mixed upwith many strange birds as you go.So be sure when you step.Step with care and great tactand remember that Life'sa Great Balancing Act.Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.
And will you succeed?Yes! You will, indeed!(98 and 3 / 4 percent guaranteed.)
KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!
So...be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Brayor Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea, you're off to Great Places!Today is your day!Your mountain is waiting.So...get on your way!

open your heart

I have these 3 great friends, all super talented, all so much fun. We've taken our friendship to another level by becoming business partners. Our venture is called Truly Gifted and our online store will open soon at http://www.trulygifted.us.com/. In this place we will offer items of our own design and fabulous finds from other artisans whose work inspires us. Okay so open your heart.....
Here is the great thing. Every single day we find inspiration in literally everything in our path. It comes to us in many forms; words, songs, other people, connections, smiles, comments, stories...you name it, we are finding it and it is carrying us along swiftly as we work on our new start up biz. So one of the very first inspirations was a flower, The Lotus Flower that my flower farmer friend grows in her pond. So she offers arrangements using the Lotus for my other friend, Sandy's graduation from nursing school party. The Flower delights me so I take one home and watch it's beauty literally unfold before my eyes. Being a photographer I immediately grab my camera and begin to document the process. Well the images from the Lotus were crazy. They completely freaked me out. I told Lyn about the images and she was anxious to see the results. Go back. Now Lyn and I, had been brainstorming for months on ways to boost our current businesses. She is a flower farmer and I am a photographer. Self employed folks doing our best but always open to something new and exciting, right. Well while canoeing last summer one of her dreams and my ideas collided! Right there on the Delaware River, we found our destiny! We had always had such a fab connection. Now the possibility of us blending our goals and ideas seemed like a no brainer! So we embarked on The Lotus Project. Our idea is create a haven for celebrations like no other. And believe me, we celebrate, and a place like in our dreams does not yet exist! We want to make a place of art, the natural world, music, and life celebration to the area of Bucks County Pa. Now all these months later, do we have ideas!
So how to great such a big idea and give it life....cash. Don't have what we need so how do we get it? We simply opened our hearts. Lyn openly talks often of the Queen of Flowers, the Lotus and the symbol of beauty and hope and love and openess! Open Your Heart. We did! And what has come is mouth wide open unbelievable. We are on our way. Okay forward again. So the Lotus Flower images.....have become our first product line. The first division of Truly Gifted, is Harvest Capture Designs. And now I introduce Beth, another friend, and interior designer. She joined the mix of Lyn (Harvest), me, Terree, (Capture), and Beth (Design)! And back to Sandy, she pulls it together as the healer girl. She's a nurse. Anyway the trip down the river, the Lotus Flower and a million chats, dream swapping, and the biggest mover of all, we opened our hearts!
Join us, Open Your Heart and awaken to life's great beauty. None of us know what is to come, but grabbing all the pleasure and hoping for the best is one great way to spend your days!
In this space I hope to offer fun stories of greatness, pleasure, knowledge, and tales from our journey in giving our dreams wings! Hope you find something inspiring, something to make you smile!
